Home Base: New York
Designer in the Making: Judith's mother, a Couturier, remains her most influential teacher in life & art, and helped shape her early passion for jewellery. While some of her friends played with dolls and others played sports, Judith, with an organic eye for design and colour interpretation, accessorized!
Family First: Judith Ripka spends as much time with her family as possible; including this past Christmas, when she travelled with her entire family (16 family members - including 8 grandchildren!) For Judith, it's not about where they travelled, but the fact that her family travelled together.
Defining Style: Judith Ripka's designs are classic with a modern twist. The collection is created with an understanding that fashion is about style and creating a total look, which includes accessories. Each piece of jewellery is designed to complement each other, to present an entire ensemble based
upon constant design features, so pieces designed 20 years ago remain relevant today.
The Hardware: One of Judith's favorite combinations will forever be 18k yellow gold and diamonds. Celadon gold, combined with a matte finish, is predominately used in her designs because of its understated elegance.
Inspirations: After visiting Paris with her husband - walking along avenues absorbing every detail - Judith became enraptured by the city's architecture. Upon returning to New York, the shapes and contours of Parisian building adornments translated into the curves of new necklaces, bracelets and rings.
Fall '08: A favourite new collection for fall, the Aurora Collection, is inspired by Aurora Borealis. Captivated by the beauty of a luminous display in the night sky, viewed first-hand in Northern Canada, Judith immediately began sourcing stones resembling the same brilliance, luster, iridescence and mystery. The collection features rare Pink Opal, Pink Sapphire and White Moonstone hand-cut cabochon gemstones.
