Holt Renfrew No Child and Forced Labour Statement


Holt, Renfrew & Co., Limited (Holt Renfrew) is committed to the principle that children everywhere have the right to be protected from exploitation, abuse and neglect.  All children should have access to quality education, and child labour is unacceptable.  Forced and compulsory labour is all work or service, not voluntarily performed, which is extracted from an individual under threat of force or penalty. This includes bonded or indentured labour, slavery or similar coerced labour arrangements. Holt Renfrew does not engage in any type of forced or compulsory labour at any of our operations, nor will it tolerate it from its vendors. Holt Renfrew vendor policies and procedures shall conform to the provisions of the relevant internationally recognized standards regarding child and forced labour, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) standards.  ILO standards are universal instruments adopted by the international community and reflect common values and principles on work-related issues.

Additionally, Holt Renfrew makes contributions to the protection of children’s health and welfare through its charitable shopping partnerships with local, national and international agencies dedicated to children’s rights.


Training and Support on Ethical Trading Requirements

Holt Renfrew’s Ethical Trading Requirements (ETR) set out our core principles that our vendors must comply with as part of our standard terms and conditions for trading with Holt Renfrew.  Holt Renfrew provides training and support on ethical trading to vendors and employees.

Starting in June 2016, Holt Renfrew vendors must participate in a webinar which reviews vendor requirements, including our policies against child and forced labour. These webinars will be held twice a month and vendors will be required to participate annually.

On November 12th & 13th, 2015, representatives from the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, a global leader in design-lead retail solutions which explore new perspectives and processes that balance ecology, society and culture, provided an intensive two-day workshop for the Holt Renfrew buying teams to introduce, discuss, share and embed the importance of sustainability and human rights in the retail fashion industry. This workshop is planned as an annual event.
